Gethsemane, the tomb of the Vigin Mary, the Church of St. Mary Magdalene, the monastery in mount Olives in Jerusalem and the Basilica of the Nativity in Bethlehem

Overview

Gethsemane is an integral part of the Biblical story. Here are such important and significant shrines as the Tomb of the Mother of God, the Church of All Nations of the famous Italian architect Antonio Barlucci on the site of the Catholic order of the Franciscans, with part of the preserved ancient Gethsemane garden, the Russian Orthodox Church of St. Mary Magdalene, built in 1888. At the top of the Mount of Olives is the Ascension Russian Convent, which was founded at the end of the 19th century by the famous ascetics of piety, Archimandrite Antonin (Kapustin). “Russian candle”, the bell tower of the monastery, is visible from different points of the city.

Bethlehem is the city of the Nativity of Jesus Christ. In Bethlehem, the most ancient church of the Holy Land is visited, preserved without destruction from the moment of construction – the Basilica of the Nativity, built by the Byzantine Emperor Justinian in the VI century.

The excursion begins at the place of accommodation of the tourists in Jerusalem (the address and time of the excursion beginning is indicated in advance by the guide). On the tour you need to have comfortable shoes, drinking water and a hat from the sun. Clothes should be like when visiting churches (men should not visit churches in shorts, women should have clothes with closed shoulders, do not have a neckline, short skirts and shorts, you can wear trousers). To cross the border post between Jerusalem and Bethlehem, tourists need to have a passport with them.
